Many women who have been shaving their armpits for years are actually doing it wrong without realizing it. Here are some of the most common mistakes ladies make:

Don’t use soap

Never ever shave your armpits dry or with the help of soap. You should use specialized shaving gel, shaving cream or foam, in order to avoid cuts, irritation and other uncomfortable sensations on the gentle skin of the armpits.

Avoid reusing disposable razors excessively

When using disposable razors, remember that they are disposable for a reason. To keep the blades sharp for longer, you can dry the razor head after using it with a dry cloth or towel, and put the plastic cap on it, to prevent it from oxidizing. Using a dull razor can lead to nicks and cuts and can lead to infections.

Be careful not to dwell in too much

Remember to shave with the blade at the opposite direction of the hair growth. Make sure you don’t shave the same area more than twice, to avoid cuts or skin irritation.

Don’t apply deodorant after shaving

Wait for about 20 to 30 minutes for the armpit skin to calm, and then put your antiperspirant on.

Careful with brand new razors

Be extra cautious and shave your armpits with slow strokes when you are using a brand new safety razor in order to avoid painful cuts.

Fail to exfoliate

Remember to periodically exfoliate the skin with exfoliator in order to avoid getting ingrown hairs and to stimulate the hair to grow out normally.

Not rinsing the razor blade in between strokes

Don’t forget to rinse off the blades after a few strokes, so that you avoid it getting clogged and causing cuts.

Not waiting for a few minutes before shaving

When you are in the shower or bath, wait for 2-3 minutes for the skin to soften up and the pores to open up, so that the shaving is easier and more efficient.

These are some ridiculously easy tips, yet too many people avoid doing just a tiny bit of extra effort when shaving. Do those simple things – your armpits would appreciate it!
